Palais de Tokyo, 2014
collaboration with Davide Balula
performers Ashley Chen and Eleanor Hahn
performed as part of Des Choses en Moins, Des Choses en Plus [Something Less, Something More] curated by Sébastien Faucon and Agnès Violeau
This site-specific performance consists of a deambulation of two dancers who wear the exhibition spaces as garments hung on the walls of the space that match the color of the architecture. The performers inhabit the space, wearing the architecture, as it were, by way of these garments which are matched exactly to the surfaces of the museum. As the dancers activate the garments, they animate the exhibition space, choreographing their movements for dressing and undressing, intervening with the architecture.
Their actions alternate quotidian gestures and improvised choreography, so that they might at once be recognized as elements in the exhibition—if somewhat visually disorienting due to their monochromatic camouflage—or mistaken for other visitors, until they undress and move onto the next location.
